Tuesday's New York Times crossword puzzle solved: September 1, 2020

My time: 5:11, very good!

Theme: PERSONAL / PRONOUNS ("gender identifiers often separated by slashes").  Three such pronouns are featured in grey squares as parts of other words.  My favorite is BUT HEY containing they. It's all quite cleverly constructed, although it didn't help me with the solve.

OK, THEN.  Onto the fill.

The auto company that makes the Telluride SUV is KIA.

For "buildup in a fish tank" I put *ALGA, then almost instantly realized it wouldn't be the singular.  SCUM is a better answer.

I glanced at "listing on mastheads: abbr" and put *EST, as in established, like the year the magazine was established.  But of course that doesn't really work.  It's EDS, of course.

No one calls them FB POSTS.

Clever clue: "It might tell you where to get off" is GPS.

I looked up Emilia, wife of IAGO, just a couple of weeks ago.  How fortuitous!

So, just the one new thing this time, the KIA Telluride.  So I should have done this even faster.  BUT HEY, it's just a game.
